Upcoming by-election

Joe Magri, mayor of Rivière-des-Prairies—Pointe-aux-Trembles borough, has officially announced his resignation.

A by-election will then be held. The election date, as well as requirements for the filing of nomination papers, and other relevant information for electors and candidates, will shortly be  made known by he returning officer, Yves Saindon.

It should be noted that, under section 339 of the Act respecting elections and referendums in municipalities, the returning officer must, within 30 days, set as polling day, a Sunday in the 4 months following the notice of vacancy.
