Registers - 1420 boulevard du Mont-Royal (former mother house of the Sisters of Saints-Noms-de-Jésus-et-de-Marie)

On February 23, 2010, city council adopted a second draft by-law authorizing the conversion and occupancy for housing purposes of the building located at 1420 Boulevard du Mont-Royal (P-09-003). Following the public notice informing interested persons that they may apply for participation in a referendum regarding the provisions that were subject to approval by way of a referendum, applications were indeed received with respect to two groups of provisions. In accordance with the Act respecting land use planning and development (R.S.Q., chapter A-19.1), these provisions, for which valid applications were filed, must therefore be included in distinct by-laws, each subject to the approval of qualified voters of the “sector concerned”, which is made up of the zone affected by the by-law and of contiguous zones from which valid applications originate.

Thus, two distinct by-laws (09-003-1 and 09-003-2) will be submitted for adoption by city council at its June 14, 2010 meeting. Subsequently, each by-law will be subject to a registration process and, if necessary, to a referendum poll, in accordance with the Act respecting elections and referendums in municipalities (R.S.Q. chapter E-2.2).

Finally, we wish to reiterate that the sector concerned with respect to the approval of these two by-laws differs from one to the other.
