Nomination paper

Qualifications

Every person running for the office of borough mayor must be entitled to be entered on the list of electors of Montréal, namely:

  1. Be of full age on June 6, 2010.
  2. On April 20, 2010
  • be a Canadian citizen
  • not be under curatorship
  • not be under any conviction for an offence constituting a corrupt electoral practice


  1. On April 20, 2010, meet one of the following conditions:

  • have been domiciled on the territory of Montréal and, since at least October 20, 2009 in Québec, and have resided, continuously or not, on the territory of Montréal, since April 20, 2009

OR

  • have been the sole owner or co-owner of an immovable on the territory of Montréal since April 20, 2009, and have resided on that territory, continuously or not, since that date

OR

  • have been the sole occupant co-occupant of a business establishment on the territory of Montréal since April 20, 2009, and have resided on that territory, continuously or not, since that date.

Filing a nomination paper

The nomination paper (in French) contains the information to be provided.

If the nomination paper is in order, the returning officer signs it and acknowledges its receipt.

No cash amount or deposit is required to file a nomination paper.

Every nomination paper as independent candidate, must be filed with the Bureau du président d‘élection, between April 23 and May 7, 2010, by 4:30 p.m.
